Statement

“The choice of material plays an important role in my work, it triggers the image. Paper as a sensitive and sometimes fragile element produces the sensuousness I want to transmit.”

”I also need to know about the tools, their tradition and how to handle them (in theory and manually). To have the materials specifications and supports, to work with their compositional rhythms, their shape and colour alterations.

I’ve always been interested in graphic art and drawing, engraving and above all collage.

The previous and most important steps before I start producing are gathering, hoarding and finding. Cutouts with a story and typography; newspapers, letters, envelopes, stamps, plus a huge selection of papers from different quality and colour made up a palette that has been collected for years.”

“I chose to approach colour from its own expresión and resources, no from   painting as the only vehicle. Playing with the materials- sometimes spontenously sometimes in a rational way – made the experiment a permanente visual excercise”.

During the process I pay attention to the changes that happen in the course of my work that finally become a more interesting challenge.

In this stage the abstraction is shown naturally, sometimes as lyrical and gestural some others as pure geometry .
